In addition to physiotherapy, manual therapy and training, we also offer other therapy services, particularly physical therapy. These can also contribute to a holistic therapeutic success in physiotherapy.
Physical therapy refers to treatments that utilise physical influences such as electricity or heat/cold. They have an effect on the body and are intended to alleviate pain, promote blood circulation or improve mobility.
We offer the following services at our physiotherapy practice in Cologne-Sülz:
Heat therapy supports numerous physiotherapy treatments. Whether hot roll, warm pack or hot air - they all promote circulation, stimulate the metabolism and relax the muscles.
We therefore use heat therapy for pain, for example muscle tension, back pain or shoulder and neck complaints.
Manual lymphatic drainage
In manual lymphatic drainage (LD), tissue fluids, waste products or proteins are drained and transported via tissue gaps or lymph vessels. We use certain grip and massage techniques to help the lymph to drain away. This decongests swelling, has a calming effect and can also alleviate pain.
Cold therapy
With pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, cold therapy, often referred to as cryotherapy, is also used to support the treatment. Compresses, ice packs or cold sprays are used to remove heat from the body locally. This can slow down inflammatory processes and also promote blood circulation. Cryotherapy is particularly helpful after sports injuries such as bruises or sprains.
Electrotherapy
In electrotherapy, we use electrodes that we attach to the patient's body. This allows us to stimulate individual muscles and areas of the body with electrical impulses. This relaxes the muscles, promotes blood circulation and healing and can relieve pain.
In electrotherapy, not all currents are the same: different types of current (e.g. direct or alternating currents, galvanic currents or high-frequency current), pulse duration and frequency as well as the placement of the electrodes allow us to achieve a specific and desired effect.
