Physiotherapists also have Training on the device. Physiotherapy on equipment improves muscles, coordination and depth sensitivity. Especially for athletes with suchThis has many advantages for movement sequences that are not performed unilaterally.

Many of our patients with various conditions, whether orthopaedic, surgical or neurological, benefit from physiotherapy on equipment (KGG). Overall, medical training therapy is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their strength and compensate for functional weaknesses - often after surgery. However, KGG does not require traumatic events: competitive athletes in particular can use KGG to improve their everyday training and reduce the risk of injury.

What exactly is KGG?

KGG is the abbreviation for physiotherapy on equipment and is a form of physiotherapy. More precisely, it is a medical, active strengthening therapy that can be prescribed to patients as a remedy. KGG uses medical training equipment and traction devices such as rehabilitation towers, functional towers, trunk lifts and dumbbells to improve and train physical abilities such as strength, endurance, mobility and coordination.

When is physiotherapy prescribed on the device?

KGG can be prescribed by a doctor as a prescribed remedy. The prerequisite for KGG on prescription is certain symptoms that require strengthening of the musculature in accordance with the therapeutic product guidelines. If there is a medical necessity, both privately and legally insured patients can be prescribed KGG. KGG is of course also available as a private service.

Who is KGG suitable for?

Physiotherapy on the machine is suitable for a wide range of complaints, for example:

The aim of this training is always to improve insufficiencies - i.e. functional weaknesses - in the muscles, coordination and deep sensitivity.

Why physiotherapy on the machine is also useful for athletes

Athletes in particular have an increased potential for injury. They often have to rehabilitate symptoms in order to quickly return to everyday life and sport. They need to regain lost abilities in the areas of depth sensitivity, coordination and strength. Physiotherapy on the equipment can provide excellent support here.

However, equipment training is just as helpful for prevention and for non-traumatic sports injuries, e.g:

The scientific community is unanimous on this topic: exercise therapy should often be the method of choice for rehabilitating complaints and compensating for one-sided strain. The KGG prescription enables targeted, one-hour training for athletes and therefore offers a very effective measure for alleviating and eliminating symptoms.

Is KGG like working out at the gym?

When it comes to equipment training, many people immediately think of gyms. This may seem logical at first glance: After all, you can build up strength in the gym and there is plenty of equipment. But caution is advised here: Especially those who train with symptoms should pay attention to correct execution and a suitable training plan in order to generate the proven benefits. Expert guidance on movement sequences and weight settings is important, otherwise a lot can go wrong.

In addition, a studio is not allowed to simply carry out physiotherapy on the equipment and bill for it. This requires practices with the appropriate equipment and trained staff.

At Physios Köln, we pay particular attention to catering to individual needs and complaints. Together with our patients, we develop training plans that suit them. It is also important to us that all our patients regain their independence quickly. At the KGG, we therefore also endeavour to create a training plan that is tailored to the capabilities and resources of each individual. As a patient, you should know after therapy how you can continue your training outside the practice.
